It's All Up To You!

Updated: Dec 7, 2020

Well, that just about covers some of the biggest players in the climate solutions game. Of course, this wasn’t an extensive research, but a general overview on what it might take to reduce the heavy impact we have had for the past two and a half centuries or so. In our posts, we’ve been mostly hopeful about the scale of these technologies, and in fact, there are profits to be realized by implementing them sooner rather than later (that’s a nudge to all you skeptical investors out there). But the truth is, some of these need help getting off their feet. Solar and wind are off to a good start, but honestly face a tough competition considering the public and governmental love of the fossil fuel industry.

We are being inevitably driven towards a green future. After all, necessity drives innovation. But even with the threat of an apocalypse-like fiery tomorrow urging us to get the car moving, there seems to be lots of people with closed eyes desperately clinging to the brakes. Perhaps the best way to convince everyone to trust the technology of the future would be to financially support the industries that show promise in being cleaner and more profitable.

So how can this problem be helped?

Money talks…

One of the best ways would be to get government support for emerging technologies to phase out fossil fuel industries in the US. In terms of a carbon tax, we’d have to raise the price of emitting 1 ton of carbon dioxide to something over $100/ton. (Subsequently, removing 1 ton of carbon dioxide would earn you this amount). This means we should focus on technologies ready to be implemented across the country. In the meantime, we can increase the price of carbon incrementally every five years, giving technologies like DAC or BECCS and entry point in to the energy market every five years.

Ultimately, what matters is to make proper policies and investments to allow these technologies grow. Climate change will become an increasingly expensive problem to deal with, and its damages are continuing to grow yearly.

With all that said...

What would YOU invest your dollar in?
